As the weather warms up and springtime arrives, many of our clients begin thinking about doing a little “spring cleaning” and refreshing their home for the new season. The pillows, accessories, and wall decor that they’ve had sitting around for years no longer look fresh, and they feel that it’s time for a little facelift.
Spring is actually the perfect time to do a refresh on your home. In the interior design industry, Market Week begins and thousands of new products become available from some of our favorite vendors.
There are numerous ways to give your home a “spring cleaning” refresh, even if you’re on a budget. Here are some of our favorites:
Throw Pillows – Marilyn Rose Interiors loves designing custom throw pillows for our clients. We use designer fabrics and trims for a totally unique look that you can’t get off-the-rack. New throw pillows make a huge difference in your room, and can instantly give the space a brand new look.

Wall Decor and Artwork – Artwork and wall decor are an integral part of any space, and without them a room can seem empty. Even just rearranging your artwork can make a huge difference. Marilyn Rose has been an art enthusiast for years, and has many sources for unique, interesting art – many clients ask us to assist them in finding new pieces that will brighten their home.

Paint color or wallcoverings – a fresh coat of paint changes the whole feel of your room, and is an affordable option. If you’ve had the same wallpaper for many years, it might be time for a change. This isn’t your grandma’s floral wallpaper: there are thousands of fresh, exciting wallcovering options on the market, from chic grasscloths to funky prints. Wallpapering even a small room like an entry foyer or powder room makes the space pop.

Accessories – changing up your accessories is another great way to freshen up your space. Your mantle, console table, dresser, and kitchen counters are ideal places to start. If you’ve had the same candlesticks and photos on your mantle for years, we suggest trying something new.

Closet organization – if you’re ready for actual cleaning, a new closet organization system might be just what you need. You can donate items you no longer use, like coats and clothing, freeing up space in your closet for an edited wardrobe with less clutter. The less “junk” sitting around your coat closet or master bedroom closet, the more space you have for what you really need.
